In episode 584 of Soul Elevation, I explored a deeply important topic for anyone on a spiritual path, centered around how we become who we want to be. Spiritual awakening is not only about learning concepts or consuming information. That's just the part that appeases our minds. It is really about consciously evolving into the person you are becoming.

Many people drawn to spirituality, meditation, energy healing, and consciousness work feel an inner pull toward something greater. There is often a quiet knowing that another version of the ourselves is waiting in the wings. I had someone recently share that when they look back at their pre-awakening life, they felt that they were living someone else's life. I think a lot of spiritually awakened people can relate to that.

This episode examines how that transformation into who we really are happens. The real change happens not dramatically or overnight, but rather through small daily decisions, energetic alignment, self-awareness, and intentional living. Every thought, action, belief, and choice contributes to the person you are shaping yourself into over time. Whether you realize it or not, you are constantly becoming someone. Many people move through life unconsciously, allowing collective consciousness, social conditioning, fear, trends, and external pressures to determine who they become. Without intention, we just drift into patterns that are not aligned with the soul’s true calling.

Spiritual growth comes from being thoughtful about your life. Who do you truly want to become? This is a powerfully important question to consider.

When you identify the version of yourself you wish to embody, you can begin making choices that support that future self. You then can actively participate in becoming that person, rather than mindlessly staying in the patterns that keep you where you are.

This brings to mind a personal experience from middle school about trust and integrity. During a conversation among a small group of classmates, one girl insisted she was “the best secret keeper,” while her cousin stood behind her vigorously shaking her head to warn that this girl should definitely not be trusted with any secrets!

That small moment gave me a profound realization that shifted something within. I had never consciously decided what kind of person I wanted to be in regard to trustworthiness. I wasn't particularly vigilant in keeping other people's secrets. But through that experience, I immediately decided I wanted to become someone others could genuinely trust. From that moment forward, I absolutely prioritized being a person others could trust with my word, and held trust I received as sacred.

There's an important truth here about personal and spiritual transformation: Life changes through moments of awareness.

Maybe we think awakening comes through dramatic mystical experiences, but many spiritual initiations happen behind the scenes through ordinary interactions. A conversation, a realization, a challenge, or a moment of self-reflection can activate a new level of consciousness. Over time, it is our repeated choices that shape who we are. Integrity is built through repeated acts of honesty, rather than one pivotal moment. Compassion grows through repeated acts of kindness. Spiritual strength develops through repeated alignment with higher values.

We must realize the difference between conscious living and unconscious programming. So many people unknowingly absorb the fears, beliefs, emotional patterns, and distractions of the collective. News cycles, social media, cultural expectations, and fear-based narratives can gradually influence our identity and energy. Without awareness, we can spend years reacting instead of consciously creating.

Spiritual awakening invites a different lived experience. Rather than being swept along by external influences, conscious living asks you to intentionally choose your thoughts, habits, emotional responses, and energetic state. This is true empowerment.

The process of becoming who you will be requires personal responsibility. It asks you to examine whether your current behaviors support the future version of yourself you desire. For example, if someone wants to become an energy healer, a conscious leader, a spiritually aligned entrepreneur, or a peaceful parent, their daily choices must reflect that future state. Transformation happens when your actions match your intention.

Embodying who we are meant to be is not just a mental or mindset exercise. There is a big energetic component. If you desire to step into a new level of purpose, healing, abundance, visibility, or spiritual leadership, your energy field must gradually align with that reality.

This often involves releasing patterns that no longer serve you, such as fear, doubt, emotional reactivity, limiting beliefs, victim consciousness, and toxic habits. At the same time, it requires cultivating higher states like trust, integrity, present moment awareness, compassion, discipline, and spiritual connection.

You must become the commander of your own energy field rather than allowing outside forces or emotional chaos to control your state of being.

Again, your transformation will not happen all at once. Your becoming unfolds moment by moment. Each decision either reinforces the current version of yourself or strengthens the future version you are stepping into. Think about where you want to be six months or a year from now. Then ask whether your present choices are aligned with that vision. If your habits, emotional reactions, routines, and thought patterns stay unchanged, the future will mirror the present. You can look into the mirror right now to see who you will be in 6 months. But when even small shifts begin occurring consistently, they build up to profound transformation.

Self-awareness is one of the foundational tools for awakening. Without self-awareness, unconscious patterns continue operating beneath the surface. You may repeat cycles of fear, sabotage opportunities, stay trapped in limiting identities, or unconsciously give you power away. Awareness creates choice. Once you recognize a pattern, you gain the ability to shift it. Observe yourself honestly and compassionately. Instead of judging where you currently are, you can begin consciously shaping where you are going and who you are becoming.

This type of self-observation is deeply transformative because it reconnects you to your authentic power.

Personal evolution is an active process. Your becoming is not determined just by fate. It is shaped through awareness, intentionality, energy, and repeated conscious choices.

Remember: You are not fixed. You are continuously becoming your future self. The version of yourself you are stepping into is shaped by what you choose today.
