Creativity is far more than artistic talent. It is one of the purest expressions of your soul, and it is a wonderful tool for expanding your consciousness.
In episode 607 of Soul Elevation, I explore the powerful connection between spirituality, creativity, intuition, and the emerging role of artificial intelligence in our lives. As AI-generated content becomes increasingly common, we have an opportunity to become more intentional about how we create, what we consume, and how we nurture our own divine creative potential.
Creativity in not just for pro artists, musicians, or writers. Rediscover this powerful asset as an essential part of your spiritual awakening.
Creativity Is Your Birthright!
Many associate creativity with childhood. Perhaps you remember drawing, dancing, pretending, making music, or inventing imaginary worlds. Somewhere along the way, many people decide they simply "aren't creative" because they didn't pursue those activities professionally. But creativity isn't about producing masterpieces or even making any money from your creations. The opportunity that is there for all of us in our creative pursuits is participating in the creative force of life itself.
Every time you paint, write, garden, dance, cook, sing, design, or simply allow yourself to experiment without judgment, you strengthen your connection to your authentic self. That's where your soul is dwelling! Creativity is really about who you become through the process of creation, rather than the finish product you end up with.
Creativity happens through the right hemisphere of the brain. While modern education often emphasizes analytical thinking, logic, and measurable outcomes, the right brain offers something equally valuable, but not prioritized in institutional learning as we have it set up today:
- Intuition
- Imagination
- Pattern recognition
- Nonlinear thinking
- Inspiration
- Connection to the greater whole
As we intentionally engage in creative activities, we activate parts of ourselves that have often been underdeveloped in our fast-paced, productivity-focused culture. It is absolutely imperative for those on the spiritual path that they are engaging with both hemispheres of their brain, for a more balanced and expansive intelligence. You can go so much further in your understanding of the true, mystical nature of reality when you are able to engage with thinking beyond the structured, rational mind.
I highly recommend reading Betty Edward's Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, and engaging in all of the exercises as you read it.
Let Go of Perfection
One of the greatest barriers of creative expression is perfectionism. Many people stop creating because they worry they aren't talented enough or fear that their work won't measure up. But creativity is not about a perfect finished product. It's an exploration. Whether you're learning to draw, writing in a journal, playing an instrument, or trying something entirely new, the value lies in showing up and taking the creative journey, not in producing something flawless.
The journey itself awakens new aspects of your consciousness. When we create, something extraordinary happens. We actually access more energy, or life force. Creativity naturally increases our vitality because it aligns us with the same creative intelligence that continually brings new life into the universe.
When you spend time creating simply for the joy of creating, you're strengthening the parts of your physiology that relate to your intuition, expanding your awareness, and reconnecting with the deeper current of life flowing through you.
AI Is Changing the Creative Landscape
Artificial intelligence has become an incredibly useful tool. I use AI myself in certain aspects of my work, such as creating episode artwork, because it allows me to spend more time focused on sharing meaningful conversations and less time on repetitive production tasks. As a small non profit owner with many responsibilities and no team supporting my work, I am grateful for the quick and powerful assets I can create for the podcast in a short time with AI. I find it to be incredibly helpful when used intentionally.
At the same time, it's important to recognize how frequently we're now consuming AI-generated content without even realizing it. How does constant exposure to machine-generated content influence our own creative instincts? When something can be aesthetically pleasing, complex, and nearly instantly created, it can make our own time intensive efforts as creation seem unnecessary. This is why it is so important to emphasize the meaning from the act of creation itself and not the technical perfection.
The Hidden Rise of AI-Generated Music
One big hidden infiltration of AI art has come to light for me recently regarding music. Many streaming platforms (major ones) now recommend large amounts of generic relaxation, meditation, spa, and ambient music that is actually AI-generated rather than created by human musicians. When you do a search for this type of music, their own AI music swarms the top of the results, making it even harder for human musicians to be found in their genre. This also means that while you are wanting to add some music to your relaxation, you are actually hearing things made by machine. IMO, that isn't what I want to engage with when I am in an open, relaxed state. If you know much about how energy works, you want to be intentional about your environment when you are in a state of openness and relaxation.
While the technology may produce technically polished music, there is something deeply meaningful about listening to creations that come directly from another human being. When artists pour their heart, emotion, experience, and intention into their work, we receive not just the beautiful sounds, but we are having an energetic exchange.
Supporting human creators also helps preserve a culture where authentic artistic expression continues to thrive. How on Earth could Humanity be better off handing that responsibility over to machines? Why would we do that - there is absolutely no sense in it.
As AI becomes increasingly integrated into everyday life, discernment becomes one of our most important spiritual tools. Technology itself isn't the problem, but if we allow ourselves to become mindless and lazy in our thoughts and consumption, we are cooked (as my kids would say).
Your creativity is unique and important because it carries your energy. No artificial intelligence can replicate your life experiences, your soul's perspective, or the frequency you naturally transmit when you create from the heart.
Whether your creative expression appears as art, music, writing, movement, conversation, healing, parenting, or simply the way you live your life, every act of genuine creation contributes something no machine can replace.
This moment in history invites us to become more intentional than ever before. We can embrace helpful technologies while still honoring the irreplaceable value of human creativity, intuition, and soul expression. By continuing to create, supporting human artists, and nurturing our own imagination, we participate in something much larger than self-expression.
We help preserve the heart of what makes us human.
