I've been reflecting on the reality that some periods of life seem to flow effortlessly while others feel filled with resistance, struggle, and roadblocks. In episode 595 of Soul Elevation, I explore the transformative power of openness and how our level of receptivity affects our ability to connect with spiritual guidance, receive support from the universe, and consciously create the life we desire.
Connecting with this truth requires a shift into the mindset that we are not just physical. We are primarily energetic beings, and we have a physical body. Most of us are used to experiencing life through our five senses. We limit our perception to what we can see, touch, hear, taste, and feel. Because of this, it's easy to believe that physical reality is the only reality. But from a spiritual perspective, the energetic reality comes first.
Our thoughts, emotions, beliefs, intentions, and energetic patterns all contribute to the experiences that eventually manifest in our physical lives. The visible world is a reflection of what already exists on an energetic level. When we recognize this, we begin to understand that changing our energy can create powerful shifts in our lived experience.
You have energetic support all around you, accessible at any time. Whether you think of this support as your higher self, spirit guides, angels, divine intelligence, Source, or simply the Universe itself, there are benevolent forces available to assist you throughout your journey. Yet many people feel disconnected from this support. Why? Because openness is required for the connection.
In much of modern Western culture, we are taught to rely primarily on our own efforts and tangible evidence. As such, many people never learn how to cultivate a relationship with the unseen dimensions of life. When we close ourselves off to the possibility of guidance, that assistance becomes harder to perceive.
The Energetics of Openness vs. Contraction
There is an energetic difference when we are open versus closed.
When we are open, we feel receptive, flexible, curious, expansive, and experience more trust and flow. When we are more closed and contracted, we feel fearful, rigid, resistant, defensive, and limited.
Openness creates a flexibility within our energy field that allows greater access to intuition, inspiration, synchronicities, and spiritual support. Contraction narrows our awareness and can make us feel isolated, disconnected, and unsupported. Feel into the difference of these two states for yourself.
One of the simplest ways to cultivate openness is through intentional stillness. Whether we utilize meditation, prayer, quiet reflection, mindful breathing, nature, or journaling, we create space for a greater awareness and openness to come forth. When we slow down, we become more sensitive to subtle impressions, intuitive nudges, and energetic guidance that can easily be drowned out by the noise of daily life.
Another way we can strengthen our connection to guidance is simply asking for help. Whether you are facing a challenge, navigating uncertainty, seeking clarity, or moving through a major life transition, intentionally requesting support from your spiritual team can create profound shifts. Have conscious partnership with the greater intelligence that surrounds and supports you. Look for answers through synchronicities, unexpected opportunities, inner knowing, dreams, helpful conversations, signs, symbols, and new clarity.
Openness Requires Discernment
It is imperative to pair openness with discernment. Being receptive does not mean becoming energetically unprotected. In this episode, I discuss the importance of intentionally aligning with high-vibrational energies and maintaining energetic sovereignty.
One practice I frequently use is visualizing myself surrounded by pure Source light and consciously inviting only energies aligned with the highest good. This allows us to remain open, expansive, and connected while also staying empowered and discerning. Remember that you are the commander of your own energy field.
Become aware of the difference between openness and contraction within your own body and energy. Take the time to turn your attention inward and feel what "yes" feels like and how your body responds when it is in a state of openness. Then compare that to what a no feels like or how the body responds when it is in resistance. This awareness helps you directly experience your energetic nature rather than simply thinking about it conceptually.
Final Thoughts
The universe is constantly communicating with us. Guidance, support, inspiration, and opportunities are often available far more frequently than we realize.
By cultivating openness, stillness, trust, and discernment, we create the energetic conditions for greater flow, deeper spiritual connection, and more conscious manifestation.
The more we learn to live from this expanded awareness, the more we can move beyond limitation and step into the fuller expression of who we truly are.
